Falling Lines: The Parallel Line Motif as a Defining Feature of the Barrier Canyon Style
Abstract: Widespread among the Archaic Period rock art styles on the Colorado Plateau, the parallel line motif, is commonly called a "rake" but, in the Barrier Canyon style, the lines are longer, more like a broom with incremental spacing, and most often vertical. And it is this lengthy verticality, which makes the parallel line motif a defining feature of the Barrier Canyon rock art style.
